Gem Scones (1921)

First published in the ‘Queensland Times’, 26 February 1921.
- one cupful and a half plain flour or wheatmeal
- one cupful milk
- one salt-spoonful salt
- one tablespoonful butter
- one egg
- Cut the butter into the flour.
- Beat up the egg and salt.
- Pour the milk into the egg then beat it into the flour.
- Pour the mixture into hot greased gem pan and bake for a quarter of an hour in a moderate oven.
