Remembering the Past Australia Gem Scones (1921) Recipes First published in the ‘Queensland Times’, 26 February 1921. Ingredients one cupful and a half plain flour or wheatmeal one cupful milk one salt-spoonful salt one tablespoonful butter one egg Instructions Cut the butter into the flour. Beat up the egg and salt. Pour the milk into the egg then beat it into the flour. Pour the mixture into hot greased gem pan and bake for a quarter of an hour in a moderate oven.
